PREPARE YOUR WORKSHOP
You must read, complete and sign the workshop contract and return it to the following address:
to participate in the Photo Workshop.
Prepare your workshop properly:
It is better to take only one bag with you. (bag of trek or hike)
however as we have to make two long trips by jeep on difficult road
you must be able to carry your bag with you in the vehicle.
so take only the essentials for optimum comfort during these periods.
I recommend a bag with a maximum capacity of 30L that can carry your camera and a little spare.
(You will wear most of your clothes on you when you prepare your bag).
Prepare the shots on the field
- You can re-read your user manual, or a photography manual in order to refresh your memory and
to write down the points or terms on which you want clarification. This will help you "get in the mood" before your workshop.
- Prepare your camera bag in advance, to be sure you do not forget anything and to buy what you miss before the course.
Do not expect to find much on the spot. Clean your bag, equipment and accessories.
Here is a list of imperatives:
1- wide angle lense (24mm minimum)
1 telephoto lense (100mm minimum)
Photo tripod (and possibly transport bag)
ND and polarizing filters for your lenses (for each of them) screwing or plates and filter holders
SD or compact Flash memory cards according to your device range. At least 2 of 16GB each
extra Batteries (minimum 2) + charger
Manual "How to use your equipment" (essential if you do not use Canon, for example in paper or electronic tablet)
an SD card reader, compact flash
Tablet Pro (Samsung or Apple with Lightroom CC) or Laptop (small format preferred) for the development of your photos.
Flights and Visa for Nepal
To participate in the course flights to Kathmandu are at your expense as well as your tourist visa for Nepal.
- I advise you to fly with Turkish Airlines if you come from Europe. (very affordable and serious company)
And I also advise you to avoid Air India regardless of your country of origin.
It is also preferable (strongly recommended) to take a return flight at least 3 or 4 days after the course.
In this way you will have time to rest after the workshop and also to solve any problems in case of delays during jeep trips, your mind will be more free and relaxed during the course
- For your Visa, on the spot (directly at the airport), count $ 25 for the 15-day visa, $ 40 for the 30-day visa and $ 100 for the 90-day visa (multiple entries for all visas). Payable in euros as in dollars.
Remember to take cash with you (a little more than necessary) to pay your Visa and 2 photos identities.
Trekking and textile equipment to take away
Nepal in the high Himalayas, It is good in the day but the mornings and nights are cold.
Possibility to buy clothes and mountain accessories on site in Kathmandu (except for very large sizes like xxl)
lightweight synthetic clothing in the first layer (T-shirt, underwear ...)
a warmer sweater for mornings (fleece or wool)
A Softshell jacket or a mountain parka
Comfortable and waterproof walking shoes (GoreTex) trail or hiking at your convenience, preferably high.
cap, hat or hat to protect from the sun
Trekking or hiking pants
a mountain leggings
a hiking stick (optional)
Himalaya and Altitude:
The hikes during the course are very accessible and do not require a very high sports level. The only precaution lies in the direct climb at altitude. During the entire high altitude period a check-up will be done regularly to ensure a safe altitude acclimatization for each trainee. In case of a real problem, the latter can be repatriated quickly to a lower altitude.
